Donald's obituary

Donald Wayne Foster, 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 30, 2018 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s. His wife Leaann, his 3 daughters, Lynnette, Lorra, and Lana, and their dear friend Susan Jones surrounded him with love and reassurance as he was guided home.
Don was born on March 14, 1939 to Gerald Evert Foster and Irva (Wynn) Foster who preceded him in death. His grandmother, “Mammy” Rosa Wynn, who helped raise him after he lost his mother at age 2, also preceded him in death. After attending Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Don served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. In 1960, he married Leaann Garrett, the love of his life. Don worked at Minnesota Paint Company while attending night classes at SMU, and then went on to work for Gulf Insurance Company as a computer programmer. In 1968, he and 2 friends started BCS, a computer software company, which sold in 1983. Being bored with early retirement, Don went back into the business world; he worked off and on during this time until he retired in 1997 after recovering from esophageal cancer.
Don loved singing and playing the guitar, playing golf, hunting, camping and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
His four older sisters and their husbands preceded him in death. Geraldine Nelson and husband Russell, Doris Blood and husband Ray, Edna Zacha and husband George, Joan Smith and husband Frank. Nephews Frank Russell and Douglas Smith also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife Leaann (Garrett) of 57 years and his three beautiful daughters Lynnette Magnusen, fiancé Bobby Dinkel; Lorra Wick, husband Harold and Lana Combs, husband Marc; six wonderful grandchildren, Jordyn Bass and husband Charles, Josh Ragsdale, Garrett Combs, Grant Combs, Grayson Combs and Harrison Wick; two precious great-grand children Cason and Cadynce Bass and one brother Gary Foster and his beautiful wife Suzanne and eleven nieces and nephews. He loved his family dearly, they were his world and spending time with them brought him so much joy.
