Donald's obituary
After mounting health challenges and frustrating transitions in and out of various hospitals and care centres in Toronto, Brian Forsyth died peacefully on March 25, 2024 with his eldest son Bruce by his side. Brian was predeceased by his parents Donald D. Forsyth and Velma Ruth Forsyth (née Glover), and his son Thomas Alexander (Sandy) Brian Forsyth. Brian fought hard to stay with his grandchildren as long as possible. They loved him dearly, miss him terribly, and will remember him fondly.
Brian found his calling as a teacher of English literature and ESL in Ontario, Korea, and Taiwan. He always took great pride in his students’ accomplishments. They were like extended family, and many former students were inspired by his passion for education, professional integrity, and conscientiousness. When he learned of their success, he relished telling them in an authoritative tone, ‘’See, I knew you could do it!’’
Brian leaves behind the love of his life, Carolyn June Forsyth (née Dilldine), children Bruce, Michelle, and Velma, and eight grandchildren. His family was his greatest source of pride, and he never missed an opportunity to let them know how much he loved them.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Brian’s life was held on September 28, 2024 at Union Cemetery in Merrickville, Ontario (204 Burritts Rapids Road). In accordance with Brian’s wishes, it was a simple affair featuring some of his favourite things, a few anecdotes, and a burial ceremony. Photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/VVU….
