Donald's obituary
Donald Patrick Forrester
July 21, 1979 – March 2, 2026
Donald Patrick Forrester, 46, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on March 2, 2026, due to health complications. A man of quiet creativity and deep dedication, Donald left a mark on the world through both his service to his country and his unwavering love for his family.
Born on July 21, 1979, in Emporia, Kansas, to Marianne Dixon and Michael Forrester, Donald grew up with a natural talent for drafting and architecture. He found peace in the tactile nature of wood, spent time carving and building, and carried that creative spirit throughout his life. After graduating from Emporia High School, his thirst for adventure took him to Albuquerque before he ultimately enlisted in the United States Navy.
Donald served his country with immense pride for four years, specializing in the demanding and vital work on submarines. His time in the service shaped much of his character—resilient, hardworking, and disciplined.
Upon returning to civilian life, Donald’s journey led him to the Pacific Northwest, where he married Sarah Wines in Pacific City on November 11, 2011. He embraced the role of stepdad to Christopher Pfost-Wines, and on Mother’s Day in 2013, he welcomed his greatest joy: his daughter, Evangylena "Raven" Marijayne. Though life eventually led Donald and Sarah to divorce in 2019, they maintained a unique and lasting bond, remaining close friends who spent nearly every holiday and many weekends together as a family.
Donald was, above all else, a devoted father. When he wasn't working as a Sterile Processor at the Portland Veterans Administration Hospital, he was immersed in the things he loved: camping in the Oregon wilderness, LARPing, mastering new recipes in the kitchen, or lost in the worlds of computer games. Every hobby was better when shared with his daughter.
Donald experienced the natural ebbs and flows of life, but through every "up and down," his heart remained kind and his intentions true. He left this world far too soon, leaving a void in the lives of his family and friends that only his specific, gentle presence could fill.
