Donald's obituary
Donald Frederick Jefferson
October 12, 1935 – December 27, 2023
Don Jefferson, age 88, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on December 27, 2023, in Burlington, Vermont, while visiting his children.
Don was born, and raised his family in Santa Ana, California, and was a retired resident of Bodish, California for 23 years. He was a caring father, and adoring husband to his wife of 65 years, Marty. An engineer at heart, he worked as a machinist in the fastener industry most of his life. He could take a car down to parts and rebuild it, and most anything else mechanically. He was a Boy Scout leader when his boys were young, but in later years enjoyed weekends on family outings, sailing boats, at the beach, or hiking adventures. He was a dedicated family man, gave the warmest hugs and loved to just sit and chat. Generous to a fault, the Jefferson home welcomed many long-term visitors, students, lost hitchhikers, friends in need, and grandchildren until adulthood. His optimism was contagious and he could always provide an encouraging word in dark times. Chatty by nature, he was a very active member of the Sequoia Ham Club, where he could be found most mornings sharing news.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marty and his son Don E. Jefferson. He is survived by his remaining children, David Jefferson, James Jefferson, Nancy (Jefferson) Martinez, his children’s spouses, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sat., January 20, 2024 - 3pm at Kern Valley Bible Church in Lake Isabella.
The memorial will be livestreamed from the Kern Valley Bible Church FACEBOOK page.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you commit a random act of kindness in his name. Now reunited with his soulmate, he lives on in our hearts until we meet again.
