Donald's obituary

Donald Davis, beloved husband and father devoted grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on June 16, 2020 in the midst of a pandemic. Thankfully, he did not have COVID and was able to have his caring home health aid of 12 years, Betty Fernandez, visit him in the hospital before he passed, and she facilitated long-distance FaceTime calls between him and his children and grandchildren the day before he died. He died peacefully in the hospital after being admitted for congenital heart failure a few days before he passed. Don was born on July 26, 1925 in the Bronx and was the only son of the late Benjamin Davis and Celia Davis, and sister of Elaine Davis Sveva, who predeceased him. Don’s oldest son, Charles Davis, predeceased him seven months before Don’s passing. Don is survived by his children, Gail Davis Perlow (Barry) and Neil Davis (Ilene), his six grandchildren Caren Perlow, Heather Perlow, Ben Davis, Sarah Davis, Jordyn Davis and Blake Davis, and his two great grandchildren Forest Perlhew and Nate Perlhew. We will always remember him for his wonderful sense of humor, exceptional memory, his magic tricks, which he loved to perform for friends and family, his love of family, his enjoyment of sports, particularly basketball, as well as pinochle and poker,  and his strong will and determination. He was a good man with a kind heart and worked hard to provide for his family. He had his own home-delivery seltzer and soda business, which afforded his wife the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. They raised three children and enjoyed 63 years of marriage.
Don
graduated from Gompers High School in the Bronx where he was an all-star basketball player. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Navy. He would have been very proud of the beautiful funeral ceremony performed by the Navy leading up to his burial. We love our dad/grandpa/GG very much and will miss him all the days of our lives.
