Donald's obituary

Mr. Donald Rayfield Colley, son of the late Blanch & Robert Colley was born November 4, 1933 in Clayton County, Alabama. He joined the Marines right out of high school and after returning from deployment began working at the Ford Motor Company Manufacturing plant in Edison, NJ. In addition, Donald also worked as a Piscataway Reserve Police Officer as well as a Limo driver. While living in New Jersey, Donald professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Community Baptist Church in Plainfield, NJ where he was a dedicated member. At Community Baptist Church, Donald served on the Board of Trustees. Lastly, Mr. Colley was an active member of the Financier Social Club.

Donald was united in holy matrimony to Edith Virginia Mahoney in October of 1955. This union was blessed with nine children. Donald was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants and the New York Mets. He loved bowling, catering, traveling, wood working and yard work. After many years in New Jersey, he moved to Stone Mountain, GA where he spent the remainder of his life.

As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. His life was as beautiful as the children that he loved so much, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Mr. Colley quietly departed this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Emory Decatur Hospital in Decatur, Georgia at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his sons, Darryl Colley & Lamont “Bruce” Colley, sisters, Ruby & Robbie, and brother, Robert Colley.

His wonderful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his surviving children: Allen (Wanda) Pierce, William Pierce, Pamela Pierce, Donald Colley II, Cheryl (Charles) Windham, Colleen (Allen) Hairston, and Anthony Colley. Donald also leaves behind 25 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 12pm-4pm at Wages & Sons Funeral Home 1040 Main St, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10 AM also at Wages & Sons Funeral Home.
