Donald's obituary
Donald Perry Cline, 79, of Hudson, FL, passed away on the morning of Sunday, August 3, 2025.
He was born in 1946, the third of eleven children to Stanley and Glenna Cline. His father worked in the coal mines of Logan County, West Virginia, and his mother worked throughout her life, including as an Avon representative, a CNA at Logan General Hospital, and later as a bookkeeper and clerk.
In 1967, he was drafted and sent to Vietnam, where he earned multiple honors, including the Army Expert Marksmanship Badge. Fortunately for his future family, he returned home in one piece—something he never forgot or took for granted.
After returning from Vietnam, he moved to the Southwest Side of Chicago in the early 1970s. He worked multiple jobs before deciding to learn how to fix refrigerators. He repaired thousands over the years, always charged a fair price, and often did the work for free if he thought the family was struggling. The man loved Jesus and loved his Bible.
Tired of the snow, he moved to Florida in 1999, where he continued his work as a refrigerator repairman. Chances are, if you live in Pasco County and your refrigerator ever broke, he was the one who came out and fixed it.
Don took every opportunity to take his boat out fishing when he lived on the water. He also loved golf—his favorite pastime, aside from causing trouble at the clubhouse, was playing in his Tuesday morning league at Beacon Woods. Over the years, he earned two hole-in-ones: one in Chicago and one in Florida.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Cline and his wife, Fidela; his daughter, Jennifer Taylor and her husband, Jacob; and his beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Carly, Lincoln, and Jaxon. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Thompson of Florida, Deborah Ariss of Ohio, and Sonja Lamb of Oceana, WV; and his brother, Ralph Cline of Florida.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rest in peace, Dad.
