My family and the friends who knew my brother-in-law Don send condolences to his family, only a few of whom I have met. My sister Rasma Brempelis and Don were married over 33 years before cancer took her life in 2021. During their years together in Texas, I enjoyed frequent visits to their home in Las Colinas. Great wine with dinner at home. Saturday evenings at Via Real, the annual Byron Nelson PGA golf tournament at Four Seasons, and best of all, loving all those cats. I miss Don and Rasma, the couple, very much. They are a couple again, with cats.

I am so very sorry to hear about Don. We was one of the nicest and best of the best of people that I have ever known. He and my deceased husband, Bill Hutton, were very good friends and business associates. When we all lived in Las Colinas, Bill and I and Don and Rasma would go out to dinner, attend golf events and visit each other's homes. I have so many dear memories of our times together. Don and I talked by phone and exchanged texts over the past year. He will be very missed. I express my sincere condolences to your family. Just know that he was loved and admired by so very many people.

We are very sorry to hear this news. Don was a wonderful man, good friend to our family for 33 years and just a very special person. We will miss talking to him and emailing back and forth the little funny memes that we liked and conversations about our shared world views. Condolences to the family.

Don and I were friends during our teens-part of a church group. We hadn't seen or heard from one another in nearly 70 years. Both grieving deeply after our spouses passed away, we reconnected and tried to support one another through our sorrow. Don became a dear and cherished friend. It was a privilege and honor getting to know him after all these years. He will be greatly missed.

What a sad development. Don and I first became acquainted in 1969 through IBM. I worked with him for several years to bring several of Cincinnati’s major banks into the “IBM fold.” We hit it off immediately and we stayed in touch after we both left IBM. He was responsible for me being hired at Bank One.
I will miss meeting him for lunch when I visit Dallas. He was one of the finest people I have ever known.

Dear Jim, Bob, Laura, and John,
All of the Freemans are so shocked to hear this news and convey our deepest condolences and love.
Jim, as I mentioned to you a month or so ago, your Dad reached out to me concerned about Israel, Brian and his family, and anti-Israel, antisemitic activity worldwide.
Don shared articles with me that were excellent, timely, and very useful. He seemed so young at heart at 87.
When I told Don about 5 Freeman family members in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Don's passion and concern were palpable.
We Freemans are so sorry for the entire Atkinson family for your loss, especially the shocking, unexpected nature of Don's passing.
As a navy officer, if I recall correctly, your Dad truly was an officer and a gentleman.
May his memory be a blessing,
Doug
