Donnie's obituary
My brother, Donald Richard Anderson Jr., died unexpectedly on April 11, 2021. Almost one month after his 53rd birthday. The family is deeply saddened by this and has had time to grieve. We are now ready to celebrate Donnies life with a memorial service/reception at the PA Club in Oak Bluffs...
Donnie was born on March 18, 1968 to Lillian Anderson and the late Donald, Andy, Anderson Sr. Raised on Martha's Vineyard but spent the last 20 years in Morgan City, LA with his partner, Theresa, Tweety, Thopham who had recently passed a few months prior to ALS.
Donnie was one of the best at mechanics and started fiddling with it when he was only 7... He built his own Go-Kart, with a lawnmower motor when he was only 9... He made my grandfather drive it and it worked great! He loved working with motors and always dreamed of working on big airplanes.
Anyone who knew Donny, was touched by his kindness and humor. He always had a beautiful smile and a big heart. He loved animals, especially dogs... His favorite was his lil one named Shadow... she stayed by his side til the end...
Donnie struggled near the end. And this is a reminder to all that have issues with addiction that it is ok to ask for help... The "plague of disgrace and shame" is what keeps our loved ones suffering and scared to reach out... Stop the stigma and save a life.
He is survived by his mother Lillian Anderson and step-mom Marion Cardoza, his three older sisters, Donna Barry, Sandra Van Kirk, Dolores Borza and older brother Bobby, Squeaky, Anderson, and his extended family and abundance of friends. We will all miss him more than words can say.
There will be a Celebration of Life held in his honor at the PA Club, Oak Bluffs.
Donations can be made in memory of Donnie to the Martha's Vineyard Vineyard House.
