Another earthly birthday and you’re not here. I miss you so much! That beautiful smile and kind heart. There was nothing you wouldn’t do for your family and friends. You were the best of the best! Gone too soon from us BUT God’s timing is always perfect. I love you STILL! Your wife, Joyce 💔

We played on work softball team- Don/Rick played right field and I played first. Always remember the laughs and fun- and the glove pat on butts of all team players- no disrespect ever felt- Don always made me feel part of the team- on softball field and always at work- in the Office of European Community Affairs- wAY back on the day.  Miss you a lot Don.  Your life had a huge impact on so many of us🙏🏼💕. Today I thought of Mr. Don.

He was “Mr. Don” to me because he was a long-time colleague of my mother, Ann, at the commerce department. His office used to be next to hers. When I was a child, I would come to work with her on school holidays, and was always excited to see Mr. Don.

He’d give me M&M’s, and let me watch YouTube on his computer while he and my mother were in meetings. When he’d come back, he would show me videos of ice fishing. The man in the video would pull out a massive bass from the small hole in the ice, and Mr. Don would exclaim, “Wow would you look at the size of that thing!” and I would try to match his amazement. I did not think fishing was all that cool, but I thought he was, and I wanted him to think I was cool too.

I remember showing him Rebecca Black’s music video, “Friday” (a trending pop song at the time) and him rolling his eyes and laughing at how ridiculous the lyrics were, and I kept singing them in the office because I found it so catchy.

It was a pleasure to know Mr. Don, and his memory stays in my heart, even all these years later. My best wishes go out to his wife, Joyce and son, Justin.

Remembering my/our friend Don Wright today.  He was a class act and someone who I was proud to be buddies with.  He and I both believed in the power of technology and the magic many of us feel when entering a Best Buy and buying a new TV.  We both agreed that a modern home should have a high quality TV in every room in the house.  We also understood that some simple adjustments to the Washington football team could yield more touchdowns and even winning seasons. :-) Peace Don.  You're never forgotten my friend. Don
Happy heavenly 65th birthday Don.  You remain in my thoughts and my heart.  One of my long-term and dearest colleagues at ITA.  As Jen Levine said at your service: "let's choose to be more like Don: more kind,  more generous, more confident, more at peace, more helpful, more authentic.  Do everything you can to bring you to your family and friends, as Don did".   I have this quote near me at all times.  I will choose to live out my days as Don did his.  My constant prayers to Joyce and Justin (did i get his name right?)  Lots of love always.  -Sara Hagigh

Miss ya Don.  Never forgotten my friend.  Will see you again someday. Peace.
I think of Don (Ricky) often- his photo and some words from his service (from colleague Jen Levine)  are posted near my computer so I see them each day. I think of Joyce and Don’s son- whose name escapes me now.  Blessings and love to them both- and to the man in heaven with the million dollar smile and a kind word for everyone- Don Wright! 🙏🏽♥️

Still missing my good friend Don Wright, a year after his passing.  There a lot of different kinds of people in this world.  Some don't have our best interests at heart, but other do. Some are good people at their core.  There's a genuineness to them.  They try to make the world a better place.  They care about others. There's a kindness to them no matter what is going on in their lives. To me, those are the traits of the kind of person i consider a friend.  Don will always be a friend.  Never forgotten.

I worked with Don (as we knew him) at the Commerce Department for several years many years ago. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. Full of kindness and good cheer. Don radiated warmth. I enjoyed working and talking sports with him. He was a good, good man. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My most sincere condolences to his loved ones.

"Ricky" Wright and his parents were such wonderful neighbors on Campbell Drive.  I still remember the surprise springtime outing to the National Zoo after Sunday School--led by the dapper and jovial Tommy Wright.  We kids had the BEST time that day!

As handsome as he was kind, Ricky had a GREAT smile.  And that is how I will always  think of him--with a kind word...and smiling.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him!

Rest in peace, My Friend.

Love,

"Patty"

I was a good friend of Don’s for 20 years at the Commerce Department. We were the “2 Dons”. Sometimes people called me looking for him. Sometimes people called him looking for me. And it was all good. The 2 Dons.

Don was always trying to make the world a better place. The notion that kindness was the best approach to the world. The idea that strength comes through listening to others and understanding them.

Don and I shared the ideal of having a TV in every room in the house. Of the good things in life like our significant others, a peaceful fishing trip, going to games, playing music in surround sound. Going to Best Buy and spending money on a new TV or stereo. Hanging out with family.

You always knew Don was in your corner. That was a really special quality. He joined some other friends for a boat ride when I turned 40.

I was lucky to know Don. I had hoped to hang out more with my friend, but that wasn’t in the cards. He will be missed.

Shared a heart Red heart

I am heartbroken to learn of Don's passing - we called him Don at the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration.  Don was one of my first work colleagues in the Europe Office - in 1990.  His dedication, and unwavering kind and pleasant personality won me over and so many colleagues,  We played on our office softball team, Don in right field and me at first base.  In the years that passed, we often spoke of our time working together in the early 1990s, i will treasure his smile, good nature, and dedication.  Don was taken before his time.  I loved him dearly, and he will be missed by MANY.

To the Wright Family-

I was saddened to learn of Rick’s recent passing. I did not know him well, but the beautiful tribute to his life only reinforced what I observed during our encounters. He was an amazing son, husband, father, leader and friend. Rick demonstrated the full essence of the life God intends for us to live on this earth.

I have never understood why God sometimes calls home the very best of us, way too soon. Especially at a time when this earthly world is in such desperate need of them. But what I do know is that for those we lose that share our faith and love of God, they will be well and we will see them again one day. So take heart in knowing that Rick was greeted with warm smiles, open arms and much love by God and his family that transitioned to Glory before him. In that, may God Bless you with Comfort and Peace during this difficult time.
