Don's obituary
He was born August 3rd, 1939 to Ethel Robichau and Bonnie Lee Thompson at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Don grew up in Beaumont where he attended St. Anthony Elementary School and South Park High School. After high school, he served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He received his BA from Almeda College.. Living an adventurous life with a passion for world travel, he visited South and Central America, the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Israel, and Europe, just to name a few, even kissing the Pope's ring while in Rome. Don’s love of travel led him to meet his wife, Susan, on a trip to Tahiti and they got married in Jamaica. Some of his many life experiences included being a commercial pilot, volunteer firefighter, EMT, skydiver, scuba diver, ski enthusiast, crew member on the historic Elissa. He raced sailboats, and engaged in many entrepreneurial ventures, including owning several travel agencies and a dive business. Don lived many places including Texas, California, Florida, Colorado, and Cozumel, Mexico. Later in his life, he enjoyed employment in Operations at both major airports within the Houston Airport System. His most cherished adventure, however, was being a Husband and Father.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Kent Thompson.
Don is survived by his wife, Susan Stohr; daughter, Bonnie Thompson Miller (Patrick); son, Donny Thompson; daughter, Kelsie Thompson; sister, Carolyn Thompson Sens (Richard); brother, Robert Thompson (Joyce); sister-in-law, Connie Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
