Don's obituary

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Don Chambers, who left us on August 4, 2023, at the age of 83. Don's life was as rich and full as his heart, leaving an indelible mark on all those who knew him.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Renee’, 4 children with his first wife, Lisa VanGorter, Timothy Chambers, Michael Chambers and Molly Briggs, as well as his cherished grandchildren Bella and Jaziah Briggs. Don's son-in-laws, Curtis Briggs, and Tom VanGorter  held a special place in his heart. His family circle, though changed now, will forever carry Don's love.

A man of generous spirit, Don dedicated much of his time to service and volunteering  with 6 years in  National Guard, Signal Battalion, a Big Brother at the St Vincent’s orphanage where he lived as a child, Community Parks,  Dog Shelter, Lake Stevens Food Bank, Providence Hospice, his local church as a greeter. He was also an esteemed Coach of the National High School and Junior High Athletic Coaches Association – indicative of his relentless commitment to the communities he was a part of.

Don was known for his competitive streak, often displayed through spirited games of Pitch, Pygot, and Blackjack. His devotion to causes close to his heart, such as ASPCA was unmistakable, his love for dogs, unbridled.

His personality best described as upbeat, friendly, warm-hearted, inspiring, competitive, and playful, Don had a knack for making people feel heard, seen and valued. His lessons championed believing in oneself, valuing teamwork, caring for others,  staying positive, putting God and family first.

Don leaves behind a legacy of accomplishment and service, from his many decades of coaching Girls Fast Pitch Softball to his tenure as National Sales Manager for renowned Pharmaceutical Companies what he most enjoyed but also off and on in Optical Sales.  Above his professional achievements, however, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Don's wife Renee lovingly recalls the twinkle in his eyes, his beautiful smile, his tender attentions, his playful heart, adventurous spirit, and charm. Don Chambers was indeed an endearing man who left no room for doubt: he saw you, he knew you, and he truly valued you.

We mourn his loss deeply, but celebrate his life, the love, joy, and inspiration he bestowed upon us all. May his lessons guide us, his love surround us, and his memory forever live within our hearts.
