DOMINIQUE S. MOORE
Dominique S. Moore, of Baltimore, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 56 in her home on December 7, 2023.
Dominique was born and raised in Baltimore and attended the McDonough School. She then graduated from University of Virginia in 1989 and University of Maryland, Baltimore Law School in 1994.
During a semester in law school, Dominique spent time abroad in Cape Town, South Africa working pro bono. It was during this time that she fell in love with South Africa and world travel. After graduating law school, she would make Johannesburg, South Africa her home for a period of time. Living abroad afforded her the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Africa, Europe and Asia where she honed her passion for world history and geopolitics all the while collecting friends from across the globe.
When Dominique returned to the states, she began her own law practice specializing in the areas of Family Law, Real Estate Law and Real Estate Development. Along with her law practice, she founded a real estate development firm, Moore Real Properties focusing on developing single and multifamily dwellings in distressed communities.
After many years practicing law, Dominique garnered a reputation as a formidable and brilliant legal mind. She never lost a case. As was her selfless way, she often gave free legal advice to ensure that many had access to representation.
She was a fierce advocate for her beloved community and sought redress for social injustices and racial inequities in her home city of Baltimore. She served as a city housing commissioner working to build access and affordable housing for Baltimore residents during a time of rapid city real estate development.
Community service was central to Dominique’s mission in life. She served several philanthropic nonprofit organizations as a vital voice to bring about change. She served on the board of United Way and Journey Home. In addition, she was named to the board of Associated Black Charities, and later became Board Chair.
Everyone who knew her speaks of her brilliance, and her sassy, bold, vibrant and witty spirit. Dominique left nothing unsaid and poured into everyone she called a friend. She exuded joy and positivity in everything she did. Her outlook on life was to live it and give back where possible.
Dominique leaves behind her devoted mother and best friend, her father, brother, aunt, close cousins, and extended family and friends.
