Dolores's obituary

Dolores Scott, a devoted mother, grandmother, and retired Red Cross employee, peacefully entered eternal rest on May 12, 2025, at her Uptown New Orleans home.

Born in New Orleans to the late Mose and Ophelia Custer Scott, Dolores was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, where she dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community. She was one of 15 loving siblings.

Dolores was the proud mother to three sons: Charles (Anna), Lionel, and the late Troy Scott (Marguerite). She leaves behind five grandchildren: Aaron (Tamara), Ashley (Stanley), Troy Jr., Tromond, and Maurice; nine great-grandchildren: Michaela (Jimmy), John, Delles, Stanley III, Sanai, Skai, Montreal, Zyion, Aaron Jr., and Ahlanie; and five great-great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

Dolores built a long and fulfilling career working for both the Red Cross and the Orleans Parish School System, where she served with compassion and integrity. During her years at the Red Cross, she created cherished memories with family as they watched Mardi Gras parades each year on St. Charles Avenue--one of her favorite traditions.

A woman of unwavering faith, Dolores served as an usher at her church for more than 20 years, greeting members and visitors with warmth and dignity. She was also committed to missionary work and was a fierce advocate for the CJ Peete Housing Development (originally known as the Magnolia Housing Projects)where she championed causes that uplifted and empowered local residents.

Dolores had a joyful spirit and loved nothing more than gathering with family and friends over a game of cards or a plate of her legendary home-cooked meals. She was famously known to say she was "the best cook"-and anyone who sat at her table knew it to be

true.

She is also survived by her younger sisters, Celeste Ruth and Melvina Scott. In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loving friends who will miss her deeplv.

Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved parents Mose and Ophelia, 12 siblings, her son Troy Sr., and her oldest granddaughter, Michelle Scott. Dolores now joins them in eternal peace. Her legacy of love, service, and strength lives on in all who had the honor to know her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the repast immediately following.
