Dolores's obituary
Dolores Jean “Dee” Dillingham, of Roanoke, VA and previously of Florence, SC and Weaverville, NC, passed peacefully and quietly early on the morning of June 7, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin. She is survived by her two daughters Dee Dillingham of Summerville, SC and Denise Dillingham of Roanoke, VA as well as three grandchildren Amanda, Benjamin and Hunter as well as three great grandchildren Whitten, Essie and Remy all of whom she cherished.
Dolores was a strong woman who lived life her way. She was a caregiver to many beyond her children and family as evidenced by her 30 years of nursing in two states. She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with and was a giving friend to all who knew her. Dolores was an artisan in many areas from sewing, quilting, painting to home decorating. In her retirement years, she became a stained glass artist who created many originally crafted pieces that were shared by many. She was an avid gardener and lover of all things that grew as evidenced by her abundant and beautiful flower gardens. Dolores never knew a stranger and lived a life of giving to others and the community she lived in. Her children and family will miss her “mother’s touch” that she gave to everyone. She was the family historian who has left a legacy of letters, photos and memories for her family. Though she will be missed by all, her presence will live on in her family and a life well lived and loved. To the end, as she would say “I did it my way”. She now rests in heavenly peace with her sister, mother, dad and stepfather who preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, you may plant a beautiful plant, give to a local charity, show an act of kindness to another or share your time with those you cherish or are in need all in her honor. The family will be honoring her privately as these were all her wishes. The family appreciates all the kind words, prayers and thoughts.
