Dixon B.  Livingstone Jr.  died at his family home in San Diego on March 5, 2025 . 

Dixon was born on October 6, 1955 in Portland Oregon and  moved  to San Clemente California at the age of ten.

 Here in San Clemente Dixon  picked up his first surfboard and up until his health started declining he never put that surfboard down.

In 1968,  the family moved to Dixie Drive in Pacific Beach . This location made it convenient for Dixon to check the surf daily before school so he could make his decision if it was going to be a school day or a surf day . Fortunately for Dixon, he excelled at both surfing and academics.

Dixon entered  Pacific Beach Junior High School as the new  kid and  he established friendships easily that he still has to this day.

Dixon is survived by his long time companion ,   Kari Livingstone. The two first met in Mission Beach at the  ages of  15 and 17. They married in 1983,   purchased their first and current Bay Park home in 1985, and in 1988 their only son Colin Miles  was born.

The family loved to travel together. True to his character, Dixon formed  strong bonds  everywhere he traveled , and  especially cherished  the friendships he made in Costa Rica, Campo Torres,and Scorpion Bay .

Dixon worked at San Diego Gas & Electric for over 36  years  and medically retired after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2011. He considered his co -workers like family and valued their friendships long after retirement.

After retirement Dixon purchased a beachfront home in Baja California as he was aware his time was limited to enjoy the outside activities he  loved best . When his health no longer allowed him to surf he took up photography and to the delight of his  friends took many photos  of them surfing.

When the Parkinson’s  Disease was no longer manageable Dixon came back to the family home and for three years Dixon  & Kari danced to  music from their vinyl record collection, had many friends over to visit,  colored  waves & sunsets in coloring books, and ate great meals which Dixon enjoyed up until his last day . 

Each of us have our own special memory of Dixon that he would want to be shared  throughout the years. Dixon was a beacon of loyalty, his friendship a precious gift to those fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
