Dimitrije's obituary
Dimitrije Trajkovic, 88, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Oakland, NJ, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Born on September 28, 1934, in Stubla, Serbia, Dimitrije lived in Serbia and France before immigrating to the United States in 1962. He lived in Paterson before settling in Oakland in 1975. He last worked as a maintenance mechanic/machinist at National Blow-Molding Company in Boonton before retiring in 2003.
Dimitrije was a hardworking man who enjoyed spending his time fixing all things. Whether in the house, backyard, or even on his own roof, Dimitrije always found room for improvement and didn’t let a day go by without finding a project to work on. He had a remarkable work ethic which he instilled in his children his entire life. However, Dimitrije never wavered on spending time with his family and always appreciated having everyone together. Sharing a good meal, often made by his cherished wife, with his family all together was always of utmost importance to Dimitrije. We will miss his stories, his knowledge (of quite literally everything), and his sense of humor he shared with us all. We will miss the way he connected with people, shared laughter with strangers, and put a smile on each and every soul he touched. However, most of all, we will miss being together as a complete family. We will forever love and miss our “Dede”.
Dimitrije was the beloved husband of Zlatija (nee: Pavlovic) Trajkovic, loving father of Nada Matesic and her husband Tony of Westwood, NJ and Sasha Trajkovic and his wife Christine of Allendale, NJ. Dear Dede to Gianna, Emma and David Matesic and Abby and Alexa Trajkovic. He is predeceased by his sister Dika and his brothers Stojan, George, and Mile. He is survived by his brother Dusko, his nieces and nephews, along with family and friends throughout Serbia and Europe.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and will forever be in our hearts.
