Dillon's obituary

September 20, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida, Dillon Vincent Jr. Newman, 20 years old, passed away unexpectedly after a fatal arrhythmia which led to sudden cardiac arrest. In the days leading up to his passing, he had mentioned feeling unwell but continued to push through with his usual strength. Despite the immediate and tireless efforts of medical professionals, Dillon could not be revived. His heart had grown vulnerable under the weight of grief, stress, and hardship following the recent loss of his father, his lifelong best friend. Dillon carried this pain quietly, and though he struggled, he remained the same caring and selfless person who was always there for others. His passing serves as a reminder of the depth of his love for his family and the heavy toll of the burdens he carried.

Born on January 17, 2005, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Dillon lived a life filled with purpose, passion, and deep faith. A devoted Catholic and follower of Christ, Dillon was known for his kind and caring spirit, his bright smile, and his ability to bring joy to everyone around him. He prayed every night before bed and attended church regularly, grounding his life in faith and compassion.

Dillon was pursuing a business degree at Florida State University and was expected to graduate in 2027. His academic journey was marked by the same dedication he brought to every aspect of his life. Before college, Dillon’s exceptional talent on the football field earned him numerous scholarship offers from prestigious programs including the University of Florida, Florida State University, Ohio State University, Penn State University, the University of Miami, Louisiana State University (LSU), Texas A&M University, and the University of Notre Dame. He played as a strong safety from the time he was a toddler and remained passionate about sports and staying active throughout his life.

At Florida State University, Dillon also served as president of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity—a role that reflected his natural leadership and commitment to building community. Whether on the field or among friends and peers, he led with integrity and heart.

Dillon was a loving son to his mother and a protective older brother to his two younger brothers and younger sister. He deeply cherished his family and held close bonds with his loving grandparents. His father passed away just one month before Dillon’s own passing, and he also mourned the loss of his grandmother earlier that summer—losses that weighed heavily on him but never dimmed his light.

To those who knew him—as family or friend—Dillon was a source of laughter, encouragement, strength, and unwavering support. His legacy is one of faith, love, resilience, and joy.

May Dillon Vincent Jr. Newman’s memory be a blessing to all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched so deeply.
