Dianne Patricia Ritz, 75, of Glen Allen, Virginia, passed away at her home on November 9, 2022.

Dianne was born on July 30, 1947, to Edward and Peggy Ritz in Baltimore, MD. She graduated from Mercy High School in 1965, then went on to the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1969. After college she achieved advanced degrees, receiving a Masters of Science in Education from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland in 1973, followed by a Chartered Life Underwriter Certification from The American College in Philadelphia in 1977. Dianne next pursued a legal education at American University in Washington D.C. and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1981.

In her career, Dianne practiced insurance law for major insurance companies in Southfield Michigan, Toronto Canada, Washington D.C. and Richmond Virginia. Her expertise grew to encompass advanced marketing and technical support in tax and legal matters, particularly in the area of estate planning. She also held several leadership positions in professional associations, including Advanced Sales Committee Chairman for one of the largest trade associations in the U.S. insurance industry.

When Dianne’s mother, Peggy, became ill with Alzheimer’s disease Dianne provided her with loving care for many years, both in Dianne’s home and after Peggy was moved to a nursing facility.

Dianne loved to ride horses and was active in the equestrian community near her home in Michigan. She also enjoyed sailing and explored East Coast waters on her own sailboat, the Desiderata. Special activities included crab feasts, visiting family, playing cards, reading books and socializing with her neighbors.

Christmas was her favorite time of year. Dianne found joy in buying gifts for her siblings and nieces and nephews, wrapping them with great care and delivering them while wearing one of her many festive Christmas sweaters.

Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Peggy and Edward Ritz. She is survived by her stepmother Cheryl Ritz, her three brothers, Mark, David and Robert Ritz , her half-brother Curtis Ritz, nieces Jennifer Burns, Samantha Ritz and Kaye Burton and nephew Alexander Ritz, and their families.
