Diane's obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Diane Marie Winsby on June 25, 2025. Born on May 27, 1954, Diane lived a life full of joy, purpose, and enduring connection. She touched countless lives through her kindness, commitment, and signature presence.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11 AM at Greenhorn Creek Resort in Angels Camp, followed by a celebration of Diane’s life at 12 PM. All who knew her are welcome to join in remembering and honoring her.

Diane had a remarkable gift for bringing people together—whether on the golf course, at the breakfast table with friends, or in her quiet acts of care for others. A devoted daughter, she lovingly cared for her mother, Gloria, for many years. Her nurturing spirit also extended to animals and the many people who entrusted her with their care.

She was generous to the core—always giving of her time, her resources, and her heart. Whether covering costs out of pocket so a young golfer wouldn’t miss a chance to play, or personally visiting a customer’s home to make something right, Diane never hesitated to go above and beyond. She didn’t just help—she gave fully, without expecting anything in return.

Diane served as the girls’ golf coach at Bret Harte High School for six impactful years, inspiring young athletes not only in sport but in life. She was deeply committed to her players and proud of the legacy they built together. Diane’s love for golf ran deep and brought her great joy, especially on her annual Palm Desert golf trips and through her long-standing involvement in the local women’s golf community. She held board positions with the Women’s Golf Club and played an instrumental role in events such as the Barger Golf Outing, raising funds for the Mark Twain Medical Foundation.

Her life was shaped by meaningful friendships, many of which began during her college and softball years and lasted a lifetime. These connections continued to grow through her involvement in golf and the women’s club. Diane was known for her loyalty, fun-loving spirit, and willingness to give her all to whatever she took on. Whether volunteering, coaching, or simply showing up for those she loved, Diane gave with her whole heart.

She will be remembered for her love of Disney, breakfasts shared with friends, her unwavering dedication, and her ability to make people feel seen, valued, and supported.

Diane’s legacy is one of compassion, connection, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
