Diane was my sister and I loved her very much. We both had struggles throughout our lives and I always, as a big sister tried to help her whenever I could.

I remember all the fun we had growing up on the farm. All the bullies I beat up for her in school, that picked on her, being her rough tough older sister..... lol

I moved out to Colorado for her. She had been sick and she was lonely and a little scared, when her husband Shon was away from home for his work. Being out West was the best part of my life and I thank her for  wanting me to come out. I miss the west and have thoughts of going back. It won't be the same without her there though. Family illness had brought me back East but my heart is in the West. I was born 100 years too late.

You couldn't keep Diane down, she always fought for the underdog and social injustice...she really was not appreciated enough for her kindness and worry over her family. I even remember her sending us radiation pills... she was very eccentric.... but smart as a whip.... it breaks my heart not seeing her before she passed.  RIP little sister, we miss you so much.

Diane passed quietly at home surrounded by her family and husband, Shon Whitley, with whom she shared over 25 years, and a lifetime of memories.

Diane grew up in South Harrison township, NJ. She also resided in Deptford and Paulsboro, NJ.

Around 1995 she decided to go west! So brave she was. Bought a truck with manual transmission and left for Colorado, her and her two young boys, Tommy and Shaun. She had never even learned to drive a manual transmission! But she made it, and found her soul mate, Shon Whitley, at a job she worked out there. She loved Colorado and her farm! She loved her family and absolutely adored her "Grands" as she called them, her 3 grandchildren, Gabriella, Anna and Sam.

Diane was very active in Community affairs, she ran for State Senate in El Paso County,Colorado.

Diane was a staunch Environmentalist. Loved her farm, organic gardening, canning creative jellies, bottling homemade wine and she made beautiful quilts. Not to be forgotten, she absolutely loved her dogs!
