Diane's obituary

Diane Alyce Slaughter, 72, of Quinlan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, in Wheat Ridge, CO hospital.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, at Lakeview Church in Quinlan at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Dec. 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

She was born Sept. 11, 1951, in San Antonio to Jo Pearl and Alpheus Wilbur Baker. She graduated from Seguin High School in 1969. Diane married Bill Slaughter on July 2, 1970, at Canyon Lake, Texas. They were blessed with three children, Aaron C. Slaughter (wife Jessie) of Anna, TX; Andrea C. Kendall (husband Jon Christopher) of Sachse, TX; and Adam C. Slaughter (wife Lauren) of Quinlan. The Slaughters moved to Quinlan in 1981 when they purchased The Quinlan-Tawakoni News, where she was office manager. After selling the newspaper, she helped with the Slaughter Insurance Agency. Mrs. Slaughter was active with the Tawakoni Civic Club for many years, the Red Hat Ladies of Tawakoni and Tawakoni Regional Chamber of Commerce. She served in various leadership positions with United Methodist Women and most recently with activities at Lakeview Church in Quinlan. She volunteered at Lake Area Shared Ministries and Quinlan Senior Center. She is survived by her husband of 53 years; her children and 11 grandchildren Colton Slaughter (wife Kasey) of Willis; Kayla Kendall of Austin, Brooke Alger (husband Jacob) of Sachse; Joey Slaughter of Anna; Kosta Slaughter of Flint, MI; Jenna Kendall of Lakewood, CO; Alexis Slaughter of Anna; Isaac Slaughter of Anna; Ian, Cecilia and Theodore Slaughter of Quinlan; and great grandchildren Kyleigh and Adeline Slaughter of Willis; Truett and Emmy Grace Alger of Sachse, as well as nieces and nephews. Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather Rexford L Turner and her brother, Richard W. Baker of Ft. Worth. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to either Lakeview Church, 11020 FM 751, Quinlan, TX 75474; Quinlan Senior Center, PO Box 22, Quinlan; or Lake Area Shared Ministries, PO Box 492, Quinlan. The service will be streamed on Facebook Live at Lakeview Church.
