Diane's obituary

Diane Louise Koupal of Eagleville, TN went home to Jesus on December 11, 2021 at age 68. Diane passed away unexpectedly after a heart attack in Minneapolis, MN while visiting to see family.

Diane was born in Worthington, Minnesota on October 26, 1953. She was one of four children born to Harry Winter Metz and Helen Meta Gieske. Diane attended Spirit Lake High School, graduating in 1972.

In 1970, she met Thomas John Koupal and the two were wed in 1972. The two were inseparable from that point on.

Tom and Diane were married for over 49 years and had two children, Michael and Michelle. The two lived in many spots across Minnesota and Iowa before relocating to Adrian, MI in 1994 and recently retiring to Eagleville, TN in 2018.

Diane was a fiercely dedicated mother to both of her children, raising them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Diane, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Diane also loved cooking and baking, crafts, and gardening. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those around her. She was a dedicated member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, MI for over 24 years.

Diane joins her father, Harry, father in law, Edward Koupal, and mother in law Kathryn Koupal in Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Koupal, children Michael (Mackenzie) Koupal and Michelle (Chad) Dyke, grandchild Natalie Dyke, mother Helen Plott, and siblings William Metz, Christine (John) Lucas, and Todd (Dana) Metz.

A Celebration of Life ceremony is planned for summer of 2022 in Minneapolis, MN.

Psalm 23:1, 6 - The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside still waters… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
