Some of you are aware that for the past two years, my mother has been battling stage 4 lung cancer that metastasized to her brain. There have been many, many complications along the way and a slow, painful downward progression of health. Through all of the emergencies, hospital visits and finally hospice, my step-father never left my mother's side. He was there for her when I couldn't be. Despite our physical distance and my mother's inability to communicate with words or move her body due to irreversible brain damage, I felt her deeply. I flew to FL on Tuesday evening and took a day to settle in before my visit. When I arrived at hospice today, my mother's breathing was labored, her skin pale, and her consciousness practically gone. I know in my heart and in my Soul she waited for my arrival to transition back into Spirit form. The heaviness I have been carrying around lifted as she departed her physical body. Although funeral arrangements are not yet final, in lieu of flowers, my family and I are asking for donations to help relieve the burden of medical & end of life expenses.
