Diane was a beloved member of our chosen family. She and my mother served together at the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany.  Diane has been part of so many milestones in my life for as long as I can remember.  I will never forget the big white Cadillac she drove to pick up my mother on the way to work. She always had a big smile and was the most gracious person I ever had the pleasure of calling a friend.  I didn't expect to find her obituary today while searching for her most current address. It breaks my heart to know she's no longer with us, but I feel better knowing that she's been reunited with my mother. We loved Diane and will remember her for the amazing person she was. Ruth, we send you our deepest condolences for the loss of such a wonderful person who had a tremendous impact on so many lives. The Golightly-Jenkins, Jenkins and Bajkowski Families
I did not meet with Diane Corcoran as I live in New Zealand. A long time ago I submitted a little story about what I called "Near-life experience" referring to an experience I had whilst in India. And Diane printed this in the newsletter which I used to receive but no longer. I thought Diane did remarkable work and with care and compassion. Diane is not forgotten.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Diane, but she was referred to so lovingly by Ruth. I am holding you all in my heart.

Dagmar and Diane on Viking Rhine River Cruise

Diane was one of a kind!  She was the real deal!  She always cared about the outsider, the uninformed, the newcomer, the underserved and would extend herself whenever and however possible.  Her generosity was boundless....from the saltine sleeves and peppermint she brought to those from our arthritis class when we were getting ready to take "strong" pain meds after joint replacement surgery to the holiday goodie bags she made up and delivered to neighbors to the unlimited help she provided to family and friends.

I will never forget her generosity on one of our cruises in paying the "add-on" charge for an onshore excursion for a young veteran's widow whom she'd just met but who could not afford the extra expense.  It was the little things and the big things too.   So many other examples to illustrate how Diane was inclusive and welcoming.

Diane was a doer and do she did! Perhaps it was innate, maybe her military training, but she knew how to get a job done.  And when she was physically unable to fulfill the task, she had the "contacts" and the means to see it to fruition.

I've never met anyone like Diane and I am so grateful that she was in my life for the 20 or so years that she was.  REST IN POWER MY FRIEND.

  • I am so sorry to hear this Ruth! My heart goes out to you although we haven't touched bases in awhile. Diane was my  Chief Nurse during my enlistment at the 86th Combat Support Hospital. She was hard core and sturdy from the years she served in Vietnam. My hero. She was a mentor and life long friend that  helped my through difficult days in obtaining my goals and successes during the years I was commissioned in the Army Nurse Corp. She became a good comrade post retirement. Always willing to help and listen to others.
I am grateful for the time Diane spent presenting at both the Army Nurse Corps Association's webinar and 2022 convention.
I knew Diane while on active duty. She first educated me about NDE and we met several times at conferences where she spoke. She was an incredible nurse and military and civilian leader. I will miss her greatly.
