Diane's obituary

Diane Elizabeth Carroll, 71, passed away on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

She was born on December 26th, 1949 in Manhattan to Marion Elsie Witt Lynch and John Lynch.   She grew up on Long Island and then married George J Carroll, also of New York.  They ventured to the wilds of New Jersey and became a family of 3 with the birth of their daughter Amanda Elizabeth.

After a divorce, Diane was a single, working mother and settled in the Princeton area, where she remained for approximately 35 years.  In that time she worked as a model, appearing in many national print campaigns for companies such as Crest, American Express and Bausch & Lomb.   For her next chapter, Diane built a rewarding career working as a Meeting Planner at Bristol Myers-Squibb.  This job required travel to the far corners of the world, which she relished.  In 1994, she gave up corporate life to live her dream of being an Interior Decorator.  She opened Traditions, a home furnishings boutique and interior design business in the charming village of Lawrenceville.  Diane spent the next 20 years decorating homes all over New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.  Her work was featured in the pages of Design New Jersey and Victoria Magazine. She was given the honor of designing a room in the Princeton Junior League Show House, in the company of renowned designers and architects such as Michael Graves.  Her room was widely applauded and was featured in the hardcover book "Showhouses".  During this period, Diane also worked in textile sales in Arizona and California and created textile designs for Thibaut Fabrics.

Diane spent the last 8 years of her life in Florida, where she enjoyed retirement, wonderful friends and warm weather.  She lived in many homes through the years, but her home and time in Port St Lucie was her favorite.

A person full of energy, fun, spontaneity and boundless enthusiasm, Diane kept everyone on their toes. She was full of ideas, motivation and creativity and nothing could stop her from accomplishing what she set her mind to.  Her granddaughters were everything to her and she channeled all of her energy and enthusiasm to them in her later years. Their accomplishments brought her so much joy.   At the end of her life, Diane frequently said she was deeply satisfied with the life she lived. She had so many varied experiences, accomplished so much, and was proud of her family who she was leaving behind.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents John and Marion Lynch and her brother John Lynch.  She is survived by her daughter Amanda Benjamin (Park), and her beloved granddaughters, Avery and Caroline.

Due to Covid-19, there will not be a public memorial at this time.  Prayers and memories of Diane are appreciated. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Jude Children's hospital, to which Diane was a life-long donor.  It was a charity that was so dear to her heart.  Please visit: https://www.stjude.org/donate…
