Sadly, I just learned of Diana’s passing. I feel bereft at having missed her celebration of life service. Diana and I met through family connections and grew our friendship through our loves of teaching and poetry. She admired my mother, Marge Thomas, and made a point to visit us during Marge’s final years. During Diana’s last summer in Mohnton, I visited her and we shared tea, memories, laughs, and health tips. She was all wit, smiles, and gratitude. I cherished every moment. If only we’d been able to say goodbye, I would recite for Diana these lines from William Blake’s poem, “Auguries of Innocence,” which remind me of her, a worldly wise woman who kept a child’s joy in her heart:

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand,

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,

And Eternity in an hour.”

When my husband died, Diana invited me for lunches and dinners at her home and we talked and talked about our husbands and their journeys and we were both diagnosed with rare cancers but unfortunately her's went quickly and mine is progressing at a snails pace...I miss chatting with her..and we used to get our dogs together to play..and Diana would insist on serving snacks and drinks while watching Bella and Toto romp around
