I first met Diana in 2006, a few months after I moved to Paso Robles. She was the mother of one of my best friends, Bryan. I remember the first time I went over to the McPartlans' house. Diana was standing outside in the driveway, beaming. She met me with such warmth and instantly made me feel right at home. I was the new kid in town and naturally pretty shy, so it wasn't uncommon for me to feel a little out of place. But when I was there, I never felt uncertain or awkward the way you sometimes do in another person's house. Diana made me feel like I was one of her kids, and I'll never forget that. Every single time I saw Diana from then on, I felt exactly the same — cared for, considered, accepted, loved. I'll never forget Diana's kind, warm spirit, her big, boisterous laugh, and how fiercely she loved her people. She was a special woman, loved by so many, and I'm grateful to have known her. Rest in peace, Diana.
