Diana's obituary
Diana Loria was born on April 13, 1964. Diana loved to sing and always had a song in her heart throughout her life. As a little girl, her favorite night of the year was her Long Island Christmas Eve, spent singing with her paternal relatives of uncles, aunts, and cousins at her grandparents house. At 12 years old, her family moved to Westport, Connecticut, where Diana started harmonizing in gal pal group the Starlites at Bedford Jr. High. Diana loved horses and became a blue ribbon jumper on "Woody" at Nimrod Farm in Weston. She was a 1982 graduate of Staples HIgh School, singing in choir and special choral group the Orphenians. Diana was most comfortable on stage in the spotlight. She was a member of SAG-AFTRA, loving her time on the movies she got to be a part of, as well as her time on her favorite soap opera, "All My Children". In the early 1980's she was part of the community of actors involved with the Westport Actors Workshop in Green Farms. She loved doing her recording work for various projects at Jacoby Storm Productions. Diana sang in the 80s and 90s in various bands around Fairfield County. She was the lead singer in Connecticut's top wedding band, "Limelight".
Being a mother and grandmother was what gave Diana the most happiness. In 2004, she moved with her son Jake, to Florida to be closer to her parents. These next years living with Jake and being a full time mom, would be described by Diana as the happiest of her life and most fulfilling. Right up until her passing Diana would constantly reminisce back to these years with Jake and all the memories they created together. Whether it was a mother/son trip to Disney World or allowing Jake's friends to sleepover for the weekend, Diana loved making her son happy and being a fun mom. Nothing mattered more to Diana than making her son happy. More of the same began to blossom when Diana became a grandmother to Jake’s daughters Charlotte and Emma. To Charlotte and Emma Diana was “Grandma Dee Dee”. She loved spending quality time with them. They shared many laughs and created many happy memories just like she did with Jake as well. Very happy and simple occasions like going on walks and singing karaoke together, were able to bring an incredible amount of happiness to Diana's life. These are memories that will live on for many years and bring smiles to many faces, when remembering Grandma Dee Dee and the happy, fun-loving person she always was.
Diana passed away unexpectedly and incredibly too soon on August 3, 2025, leaving us with broken hearts that will miss her greatly everyday. She brought a song to our lives that no one else will ever be able to sing. Diana is survived by her son Jake Russo, his wife Kelli-Anne Russo of Orlando, Florida. Her two granddaughters Charlotte and Emma, who were the joys of her life. Sister Tina Loria of Redding Connecticut. Parents Anthony and Mariann Loria of Winter Garden, Florida. Nephew Michael Rudy Ferrigno of Bronx, NY. Many aunts, uncles and cousins as well. Diana was a very special person with an incredibly kind heart, who was known to always put others before herself. She loved her family more than anything in this world. Diana passed away at home peacefully in her sleep, after spending almost a month grieving her beloved dog Ricky. Ricky was considered an important member of the family as well and Diana took his passing very hard and with a heavy heart. Diana will be incredibly missed by her family and not a day will go by where she isn’t thought about or remembered for the wonderful person she is. A devoted daughter, mother and grandmother whose memory will always live on. Diana Loria, your family will always love you and cherish your memory. Rest in peace, we love you.
