Diana's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diana Jean Hoover, a woman of remarkable kindness and intelligence, who peacefully departed this life on March 5, 2024. Born on April 26, 1963, Diana lived a fulfilling life of love, compassion, and remarkable achievement.
Diana was preceded in death by her father, James Johnson, yet is survived by her mother, Pat Spengler, and brother, John Johnson. She leaves behind a profound legacy embodied in her children, Heather Harris and Caitlin Hoover. Additionally, her ex-husband, James Hoover, also shares in the grief of her loss.
Education was an important part of Diana's life. In 1981, Diana graduated from Awalt High School in Mountain View, CA. Her pursuit of education did not stop there, as she later attended De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. It was at De Anza College where Diana excelled, graduating Magna Cum Laude with Associates Degrees in Business Administration, Marketing Management, and Behavioral Sciences in 2008. Notably, Diana accomplished this feat while raising her two children.
Diana's career was defined by service to others and a passion for helping to shape the youth of the future. She spent most of her professional career as a preschool teacher at Rainbow Bridge Center in San Jose. Diana also made a name for herself working at other educational institutions including Foothill College and the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Her roles there were a testament to her commitment to making a difference in as many lives as possible. In addition to her professional endeavors, Diana harbored a deep-seated commitment to community service. Whether mentoring as a softball coach at her children's school, tutoring students with learning disabilities akin to her own in reading and math, or readily stepping in as a crossing guard whenever needed, Diana's altruistic spirit resonated throughout the community.
Diana shared countless pearls of wisdom and life lessons, yet her cherished mantra remained that kindness comes at no expense. Renowned for her passion, intelligence, and ever-present humor, she left behind a legacy steeped in kindness and empathy for others. Her influence will continue to resonate and inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her for years to come.
We find comfort in shared memories and joy, knowing that Diana's life touched so many. Words cannot fully express our sorrow and how deeply her absence will be felt. Her radiant spirit and laughter will forever remain with us.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the GoFundMe created to help with costs towards Diana's final expenses. Any funds raised beyond this goal will go towards the care of Diana’s youngest daughter, Caitlin Hoover. Caitlin has a myriad of physical and developmental disabilities which required her to live at home with Diana. Since Diana's hospitalization earlier this year, Caitlin has come to live with Heather.
