Daisy's obituary

Our beloved Diana “Daisy” GunHammer (38) unexpectedly passed away on October 7th, 2023. Daisy was born in Missoula, Montana on October 21st, 1984 to John and Agnes GunHammer.

Agnes called Daisy her “change of life” baby because she was born prematurely with severe complications related to spina bifida. The doctors didn’t expect Daisy to survive a week, however, she far exceeded those expectations and she never let her diagnosis slow her down.

Daisy was a woman of strong faith who loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved to sing praise and worship and to be involved in any and all church activities. She loved to pray for others, and her power of prayer touched many lives.

She loved to attend and participate in pow-wows. Her infectious smile, bubbly personality, and loving and caring nature will be missed by all. Anyone who knew Daisy loved her. She made each person feel like they were the most important person in the world.

She is survived by her mother, Agnes GunHammer; brothers John GunHammer, Cleve GunHammer and Dakota GunHammer; sister Becky GunHammer; nephews Logan Carpentier, Devin GunHammer, Xavier GunHammer, Michael Ramirez and John ”JJ” GunHammer; nieces Angelina GunHammer, Selah Carpentier, Ashley Kenik, Hannah GunHammer, Gabby O’Hara and Mara Ramirez; numerous cousins including Charlene Lefthand, her best friend for life.

Our family would like to acknowledge and express our deep gratitude to the staff and family at Renee’s Helping Hands, especially her cousin Amanda and Isaac Dupuis for providing care for Daisy for the past several years. Ashley Banks and Coral Loring were Daisy’s most recent caregivers and were present every day with Daisy’s up to and including the last moments of her life. Other significant caregivers include Justin Banks, Corinne Irvine, Samantha Irvine, Sarah Harrison, Brittney Parmenter Candelaria, Indigo Sherman and Madison Harris.

She is preceded in death by her father John, brother Jade and sister-in-law Melanie GunHammer.

Rosary will be at the Longhouse on Friday, October 13th at 8pm. Funeral will be held at the Longhouse on Saturday, October 14th at 11am with burial to follow at St. Ignatius Native American Cemetery.
