Diana's obituary
Our beloved mother, Reta Diana Doerfler, passed away on June 23rd at the age of 76. She was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, George, as well as her parents, Wallace and Arrahwanna Morrow. She is survived by her sister, Michelle Morrow, and her sons, Christopher and Kurtis, and his wife Michelle, and her grandchildren, George and Eva, of whom she was so very proud. There will be a service at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks on July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception after at her dear friend’s house. Please RSVP at DoerflerFamily37@gmail.com for reception details.
Diana and George bought a house in Thousand Oaks in 1969 and immediately began to help build a community. She was a longtime member of Ascension and sent her boys to school there as well. She served on the school board and in a multitude of services for the Church, reaching out to those in need as often as she could. She was active in TO Little League, AYSO and club soccer, both as a coach and administrator. She instilled a joy of service in those around her.
As an unstoppable caretaker, it was only natural that she would spend most of her working career as a nurse, joining Los Robles Regional Medical Center in 1970. She spent a second career, after earning an MBA at CLU, as a financial agent for Thrivent. Eventually she worked her way back to nursing as a home health nurse at Assisted Healthcare. Every step of her professional career and personal life centered on helping those around her.
She will be missed by so many, but remembered fondly by so many more.
