Di's obituary
Diana Greve DeGraff, 80, passed away on April 18, 2026, at her home in Kentfield, surrounded by her family. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Diana was a truly refined woman, with a timeless style and a gentle presence that made others feel at ease.
Diana—known as Di to most—was the daughter of Jan and Dorothy Greve. She grew up in San Mateo Park alongside her sister, forming lifelong friendships that still remain to this day. In her early years, Di was a bit of a tomboy, especially with her dear friend Judy, and she loved being active and spending time outdoors. Tennis was a constant in her life, and she was known for a particularly great cross-court backhand.
The family eventually moved to Hillsborough, where Di attended San Mateo High School before heading to UC Santa Barbara, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. After graduating in 1967, she began working at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in San Francisco—it was there she met her future husband, Bob.
Di and Bob loved their early years in San Francisco, filling their days (and nights) with friends, fun, and a shared sense of adventure. They began in a cozy apartment in Buena Vista Heights, but found themselves just a little too far from the after-work fun they loved, so they made the move to Pacific Heights—right in the middle of it all, with stunning views of the bay.
After a few years in the city, they moved to Marin and settled into their home in Kentfield—a place that would become the heart of their lives for more than five decades. It was there they welcomed their son, Mark, and later their daughter, Dani, and built a life centered around family, friendship, and togetherness. Their home was always full of warmth, love, and the people they held closest.
Diana was a woman of effortless grace. She carried herself with a quiet elegance—beautiful not only in appearance, but in the way she moved through the world. There was a calm ease about her, a gentle confidence that made everything she did seem natural and unforced. Her warmth was constant, her kindness unwavering, and her presence deeply comforting to those lucky enough to know her.
She was up for anything, anytime—whether it was a spontaneous hike to Phoenix Lake or at Tahoe with friends and a bottle of wine, camping along the Russian River in their pop-up trailer, or setting off for Paris and beyond. She didn’t just see the world—she experienced it deeply, surrounded by extraordinary love and friendships that are hard to put into words.
And yet, her greatest joy was always her family. She poured her love into her children and grandchildren, and shared something truly special with her husband —a partnership of 58 years that felt like it belonged in a storybook. Together, they built a life grounded in deep love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They were rarely seen apart.
She leaves behind her beloved husband (Bob), children (Mark and Dani), daughter-in-law (Jen), grandchildren (Hailey (20), Kate (16), Rhys (15), and Keaton (12)), and a close-knit circle of family and friends who were all one and the same.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Di will take place at the home and garden of a close friend and neighbor, Delanie Read, at 109 Oak Avenue in Kentfield on Saturday, June 13, from 4-7pm.
