Romans 8:38
By far, the most honorable thing about Mommy was her exceptional faith in God...it was unwavering. Faith was her most powerful weapon and she wielded it relentlessly. Many grew to love and trust the scars that had for so long caused her shame and doubt. Equipped with unforeseen wisdom and foresight, Mommy exposed these scars to aid others in their quest for healing and restoration. Hers was a life of giving what she so desperately needed - unconditional love, nonjudgmental understanding, and the freedom to just "be".
It is often said that we should not take the advice of those who have made mistakes in the areas we seek counsel. However, I pose the question…who would be better? The world is filled with a myriad of atrocities: a global pandemic (COVID-19), a surge in mental illness, joblessness, wildfires, racial injustices, a polarized presidential election… Pain and suffering has intensified.
Mommy had a gift of finding plants that were nearly dead. To the average person (like me), there would be no hope. Then in a month or two, the plant would be unrecognizable, flourishing, full of life, beautiful. God equipped Mommy to be a wounded healer. Just as Jesus was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities, and wounded for our healing (Isaiah 53:5), she too was God’s source to lead others to heal through the things she suffered. God has called her to glory.
You will forever be in our hearts Mommy - We love and miss you.
There will be a going home celebration on November 7, 2020, at Christ Temple All Cultures Ministries
