Dewane's obituary

Dewane was born in Goodland, Kansas, December 31, 1952 to Algon and Phylis Morgan. He grew up surrounded by the love of family with two sisters Cheryl and Julie, and many childhood friends and grandparent’s, who lived right next door.

Growing up he loved animals; specifically dogs, building things with his father and fishing. He spent days playing and learning the guitar with his dad, and eventually loved driving around in his old Willy’s Jeep.

Dewane was moved to Colorado in 1961, First to Brighton then later to Wheatridge, CO. He grew up watching and learning to build house as his father who had built their first home, 5 miles from Golden, CO in 1964.

In 1967 the family moved to Hygiene, CO. They bought a stunning white old farmhouse with 3 acres, a pasture and just about every fruit tree you could imagine. Dewane eventually moved back there in 2016. He designed and built with the help of his friends an addition to the house so he could spend the rest of his life in the home he loved so very much.

During his remarkable lifetime, he learned construction, wood working, rigging, carpentry and built many homes with his father before moving on to work for Palace Construction of Denver in 1975.

He Married his children’s mother in June of 1976, bought their first house in Wheatridge Co. and had their first Daughter Brooke in August of 1977 and their Son Christopher D. In July of 1979.

Dewane moved on to work for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) local #7 in 1984, working at Elitches Theater. Here he worked on many plays; setting stages, building sets as a talented carpenter and working on lighting. Dewane made life long incredible friends at Elitches, finding his passion in life he officially became one of the proudest card members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) local #7 in 1987, becoming one of their hardest workers. This was EVERYTHING to Dewane!

He loved his union family dearly. He loved working with his best friends and building and working on some of the most famous stages and concerts known today at Red Rocks, Mile High (OG), Denver Colosseum, DCPA, Convention Center and even good old McNichols Arena.

Anyone who knew Dewane knew his love for Music and his work, he had stories you could listen to for days.

From playing cards with Chevy Chase to asking Kathy Ireland out on a movie set and having her sign a dollar bill. He was always so proud that he helped build the barn in the City Slickers movie in 1991. Dewane worked 1000’s of concerts, countless movies but his most cherished and his most favorite place on earth was Red Rocks Amphitheater.

If Dewane couldn’t be listening/working on music he was on the water, sailing, fishing or just admiring it for its beauty, he loved the ocean and being on, near on in the water.

Dewane was the best dad any 2 kids could have ever asked for. Teaching them sports and cheering them on at games, playing catch with them. Teaching them his talented wood working skills, building skills, sailing skills and design skills, how to drive a nail with 1 swing. He taught them to “find what you are passionate about, then find a way to make money doing just that!” He even taught them his trade where they both had the privilege to work with their dad.

His infectious smile and laugh will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loved daughter Brooke Morgan of Evergreen, Co. loved son Christopher D. Morgan and loved daughter in law Lindsey Morgan of Ken Caryle, Co. His Legacy, cherished and extremely loved Grandchildren Aspen Morgan (15), Jaxson McFarland (13) and Blake Morgan(12).
