Obituary
Mr Deth Bouapha is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dedicated Buddhist passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the age of 79 in Philadelphia PA. Born January 1, 1946, in Khammouane Province in southern Laos.
A man of grace, compassion, and strong faith, Deth was an active volunteer at the South Philadelphia Wat Phouthathammaram Laotian Buddhist Temple where he faithfully volunteered his time practicing and teaching Buddhists customs and traditions. He was also a member of the Cambodian Association with the Preah Buddha Rangsey Temple located in the Whitman neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He is preceded in death by his father Wan & mother Yow Bouapha, his oldest brother Somwang Bouapha, younger sister Bounlung Bouapha and youngest brother Phosai Bouapha
Deth’s legacy of love and commitment lives on in his loving wife, Somvang Virath Bouapha; his son, Vongnaleth Bouapha (Kathleen d.) and his daughters, Sounida Britten (Richard); Phattaya Bouapha and Mary Bouapha. He adored his grandchildren, Victoria Britten, Elizabeth Britten, Alexandria Britten. He also loved and supported brother Xangthong Bouapha, Walai Bouapha, Sisai Bouapha who reside in southern Laos. He also held the special relationship with Phet and Phetsamone Louanglath who cared for them as if he were their own father. He will be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, temple family, and friends.
Celebration of Life & Viewing
A family viewing will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by a public viewing at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Preah Buddha Rangsey Temple, located at 2400 S 6th St, Philadelphia, PA 19148. Rebirth will be held at McElvarr Funeral Homes, Inc.,1415-17 E. Susquehanna Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125. For inquires please contact his daughter Sounida at 571-406-8382.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for all expressions of sympathy, support, and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sounida Bouapha Britten.
