I’m sending my love to Tilly and her mommy. Derek was a kind man and wonderful dad. The entire staff at Greenbelt Children’s Center had the pleasure of having him be a part of our family. We can only imagine what the loss will mean for the family. Please accept our sincere sympathy.

Absolutely gutted to hear this news, my deepest condolences to you Caitlin and Tilly for the loss of such a wonderful person, father and husband. Everyone that came into contact with Derek is better for it, myself included. During our time working together at Bethesda, Derek was a friend I truly cherished. He had the best recommendations for comics, music and movies. He was incredibly supportive to all of his coworkers and friends, so whip-smart and witty, and just a genuine and good person. Sending love and support to his family and all those mourning his loss. Rest well, buddy.

My most sincere condolences. I remember him being the most loving and supportive dad to Tilly( my student). I am praying for the family during this time.

Derek and I were friends in what feels like another lifetime. He had such a genuine soul and left a lasting impact on my life. It's heartbreaking to know his time was cut short. Rest easy, my friend.
