I have my own memories that I hold dear but I thought I'd share this one from a friend that was told to me a few days ago.

Many years ago she was sitting at the pub in the winter time in Cow bay,  complaining about having to find someone to grate her driveway and the cost of it all. Red was sitting at the next table and over heard her. She'd never met him before but he offered to bring over his tractor and do it for free. This was the big hearted, thoughtful kind of man he was. 

Dear Marla.

I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I’m sending you my love. I’m thinking of you and sending you prayers.

"Marla, my dear, dear friend,

I'm sitting here with a heavy heart, struggling to find the right words to express the depth of my sorrow and condolences on the loss of your beloved Derek. The news has left me shattered, and I can only imagine the unbearable pain you must be going through.

From across the ocean, I want you to know that I'm feeling every ounce of your grief, and I wish I could be there physically to wrap you in a warm hug and offer some comfort. Though distance separates us, my heart is with you, and I'm trying to absorb some of the pain, wishing I could take it away.

Derek was an incredible soul, and his love and presence in your life will never be forgotten. I'll always cherish the memories we shared together.

Marla, you're not alone in this. I'll be with you as soon as I possibly can, and until then, know that you're surrounded by love, thoughts, and prayers from afar. If there's anything I can do to support you, please don't hesitate to reach out.

So sorry for  your loss, Marla.  Even from a distance, the love and joy, he brought to your life, was clear in every shared thought..  Hold on to those memories.  Sincere Condolences.

 I've met Derek several times in passing but didn't have the pleasure of knowing him personally.  In those breif interaction it was very apparent that he was an all around stand up man who loved his family wholeheartedly. 

My heart is with Marla and the kids at this time.  My sincerest condolences to all who had the pleasure of knowing Derek.
