Derek Sheridan Hestwood, aged 51, passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home in Flint, Texas, on March 10, 2023. Born on March 22, 1971, in Dallas, TX, to Richard Sheridan Hestwood and Judy Marie Weaver Brossett, Derek was one of four loving siblings, including Kristy, Brandon, and Mark. Raised in the Lone Star State, he graduated from Bullard High School and attended Tyler Junior College.

Derek had an incredible talent for connecting with people from all backgrounds and could relate to anyone. He was an animated storyteller, and could bring stories to life in his own unique way. He never encountered someone who didn't consider him a friend, and he would go to great lengths to help his friends without hesitation.

Family meant everything to Derek. He adored his three daughters, Maci, Maggie, and McCall, treasuring every moment spent with them and watching over his girls with the utmost love and care.

Alongside his family and friends, Derek was a successful petroleum landman. His dedication, integrity, and fair dealings made him a trusted figure in his field. Derek also had a passion for flying airplanes, a love he inherited from his father. Many of his stories revolved around soaring through the skies, taking in the beauty of the world from above.

Derek's infectious personality and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family, friends, and colleagues will remember him as a selfless and compassionate man who left an indelible impact on their lives. Derek's legacy will live on through the memories he shared with those closest to him. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, a skilled landman, and a true friend.

A heartfelt celebration of Derek's life will be held in the Bullard, Texas at the Bullard United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM CDT at 204 Rather St, Bullard, TX 75757.
