He bailed me out of the hospital, came all the way to Syracuse and drove me home I left AMA in my hospital robe, he didn't mind. Happy Birthday buddy

Watching the Giants then the Bills game and cooking up a nice fat guy feast on Sundays in his house.... or sharing his discovery of the sushi place in Watertown that we were pretty sure was also the guys house. We shared our love of football and food, and we enjoyed sharing Sundays with him
I remember  traveling with the family when Derek was young and he would fall asleep with his head on my shoulder.  I will miss him and his posts of the animals he tended to both domestic and wild. Rest in peace Derek.

This hurts my heart... Derek is certainly in the presence of our Lord.
Derek,
You are one of the kindest men I ever had the honor to meet.
Our mutual love of bunnies and animals brought us together.
You gave to help strangers with their Vet bills.
I know your Sweet Bubba and your other companions that you loved so much greeted you joyously at the Great Park.
May you now Rest In Peace.
