Denise Kenney Mastiranna, 83, of Middlebury, Connecticut, left this earthly plane on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Denise was born on May 2, 1942 (although she liked to tell everyone May 3) and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rosemary Kenney. She attended Catholic High School in Waterbury, CT, earned her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from SSCU, and later received her master’s degree in Theater Arts from Fullerton College in Fullerton, California.

Over the course of her 40-year career, Denise served as Executive Director at several preschools across the United States, touching countless lives through her dedication to early childhood education. She retired to Oceanside, California, in 2013, before returning to Connecticut in 2015 to live with her family.

Energetic, spirited, and full of life, Denise had a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was truly contagious. She deeply loved her husband, Bob, and treasured every moment spent with family. Generous to the core, Denise loved spoiling those she cared about—happily spending down to her last two dollars on coffee and donuts, or chips and a delicious soda to share.

She leaves behind her two sisters, Jackie (John) Kasabucki and Mari Kenney; her nephew, Craig (Erika) Borden; and her niece, Erin Gregoire. Denise is also survived by several grandnieces, a grandnephew, many cousins, and a multitude of beloved friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to the New England Crematory in Wallingford, CT. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
