Dennis's obituary
Dennis Hubert Walter, 71, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in Livingston, NJ.
Born on November 30, 1953, in Alden, NY, Dennis lived a life defined by quiet strength, steadfast loyalty, and an unwavering love for his family. He was a devoted husband to Judith Ann Walter (née Erny), his partner in life for 48 years, and a proud father to Natalie Marie Timoteo (née Walter) and Dennis Joseph Walter.
A man of few words and many talents, Dennis built a lifelong career in music as a percussionist, sharing his gift in countless ways. After graduating from SUNY Fredonia, he served with pride in the United States Air Force Band, taught private lessons, performed in ensembles, orchestras, and musical theater pits, and later inspired generations of students as Choir and Band Director at Northern Burlington Regional Middle and High School.
He was happiest with either his family by his side or surrounded by his beloved collection of percussion instruments. His humor was gentle but well-timed, his resilience quiet but unshakable, and his love steady enough to ground everyone around him. He led with a wisdom that never demanded attention, yet left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
Dennis is survived by his daughter Natalie Marie Timoteo, his son Dennis Joseph Walter, and his grandchildren Beatrice and Elliot. He is also survived by his siblings Tom Walter, Barbara Sojka, and Marie Beinik. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy in July 2024, their daughter Kathryn, and by his parents Hubert and Margeret Walter.
A memorial service will be held on November 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Rancocas Friends Meeting, with a reception immediately following at Rancocas Community Center.
Though his physical presence is gone, Dennis’s love endures—in the music he played, the stories we tell, the lessons he taught, and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself.
