Dennis's obituary

Dennis "Denny" Stephany went home to Jesus on April 20, 2022 at age 84.


Dennis was born to Howard and Donnabelle Stephany on November 29, 1937 in Woodbine, Iowa.  As a child, Dennis was a good student, raised 4-H cattle, and enjoyed playing football.  He graduated from Woodbine H.S. in 1955.  Dennis graduated from Iowa State University and Naval ROTC, then served his country as a commissioned naval officer (LTJG) aboard the USS Midway.  Denny met his wife Mary Louise Calabretta on a blind date in Des Moines, Iowa, they married in 1960.  They went on to have two sons, Brian and Mark.  

Denny enjoyed a career in sales management.  In addition to his career, Denny was the past president of the Hot Springs Village Kiwanis Club where he mentored and guided young people.  He was also a member of the American Legion.  Denny enjoyed working in his yard, boating and golf, and most of all the companionship of his friend Teddy.

Dennis had a strong faith in God, which brought him peace in his final days.  He served as an elder at Faith Lutheran Church.  Dennis joins his wife Mary in Heaven.  He is survived by his sons Brian (Kate) and Mark (Susan), brothers Dean (Catherine) and Bob (Ramona) Stephany, sister Mary Kay Eby (Bob), sister-in-law Liz Royer, grandchildren Erin, Ryan and Tana, and great-grand son Josiah.  A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 30th at Faith Lutheran Church, 1196 DeSoto Blvd, Hot Springs Village.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Kiwanis Club of Hot Springs Village Foundation.  Denny/Dad/Grandpa Daddy, we love and miss you!
