Dennis's obituary

Dennis Eugene Sigmon was born August 27, 1942 in Cherryville, North Carolina to Vida Mae Mauney and Rufus Eugene Sigmon. Dennis passed away on December 7, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. Number nine of twelve siblings, Dennis grew up in large family, and although separated by distance, he remained close to his brothers and sisters throughout his life. Growing up, Dennis and his family were always active at Cherryville First Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Cherryville High School in 1960 and joined the United States Air Force shortly after.

After initial USAF basic training and tech school, Dennis was assigned to Lindsey Air Station, Wiesbaden, Germany where he met his future wife, Patricia Kukla. After their courtship, Dennis and Pat were married in April 1963. Upon his honorable discharge from the USAF in 1964, Dennis and Pat moved back to Cherryville, NC, where he took a job with North Carolina National Bank. Later that year their daughter Denise was born and about a year later they moved to San Antonio, Texas where Dennis took a job with his long-time employer, Frost Bank. Dennis and Pat’s son, Joseph, was born in San Antonio in 1969. Dennis worked for Frost Bank until his retirement in 2001 (with a stint at EDS from 1989-1993), where he rose to the level of Executive Vice President of Bank Operations.

In 2003, Dennis and Pat moved to Weatherford, Texas to be close to their daughter’s family including their three grandchildren. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and also loved to watch the Texas Rangers, following all the up and downs of that franchise and discussing them with his grandson, Garrett. Being in Weatherford allowed Dennis and Pat to also attend grandchildren’s sporting events, musical recitals, and horseback riding events. Dennis and Pat regularly attended Grace First Presbyterian Church, Weatherford and after Pat’s passing in 2014, Dennis became a regular presence at The Summit (St Paul Lutheran Church - Aledo), along with Denise, Corey, and Zhanna.

Dennis is proceeded in death by his wife, Patricia Sigmon (Kukla); parents, Vida and Rufus Sigmon; brothers, JT Sigmon, Harold Sigmon, Paul Sigmon, Bill Sigmon; and sisters, Elsie Sigmon, Christine Brown, and Meredith Moore. Dennis will be greatly missed by his surviving family; daughter, Denise Linscombe and husband, Corey; son, Joseph Sigmon; grandchildren, Garrett and Ruth Linscombe, Joshua and Erin Scarborough, and Zhanna Linscombe; three great-grandchildren, Lee, Alice, and Elise; and siblings, Jim Sigmon, Trish Schubert, Martel Sigmon, and Tim Sigmon.
