Dennis's obituary
Hal was born on December 20, 1932 in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma to Harlie Adolphus and Pearl Katherine (Boettler) Scott. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1950. Hal earned his bachelor’s degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and he completed his post-graduate work at Oklahoma State University. However, he was the biggest Oklahoma Sooners Fan you’d ever meet!
Hal had a very diverse career full of adventure… from serving overseas in the United States Air Force during the Korean War to training and racing thoroughbred horses across the country for many years. He also spent many years as an educator. He was a teacher/coach, principal, and superintendent. After he retired from being the superintendent of schools in Paden, Oklahoma in 2000, he moved to Whitesboro, Texas and started yet another career as a realtor and mortgage broker.
Hal was an avid fisherman, but he enjoyed it most when sharing his passion with his loved ones… from fishing at the lake with his sister Clara to taking his family on fishing trips to Canada to teaching his granddaughters how to fish. He was also an avid sports fan. He could quote any OU sport’s statistic, and he never missed a game of his granddaughters.
Hal is survived by three beloved siblings: brother Bob Scott, sister Clara Williams, and sister Shirley Adams and her husband Chuck. Hal was preceded in death by sister-in-law Betty Scott and brother-in-law Charles Williams. He is also survived by his three children: Tim Scott of Whitesboro, Daniel Scott of Whitesboro, and Tracy Scott Rupert of McKinney, and his two cherished granddaughters Rylie and Reagan Rupert of McKinney, Texas. In addition, Hal has a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very dear family friend Donna Stevens.
Hal was a believer, and we are certain he is catching lots of big fish and probably training some horses to race... Maybe even playing some basketball and baseball, but he is definitely playing Mexican train dominoes and eating homemade banana ice cream in heaven. He loved his family whole-heartedly and unconditionally. He was their #1 fan, and they are forever grateful for that. There is no greater legacy to leave… than being someone’s #1 fan.
