Denny's obituary
On December 3, 2023 surrounded by family, Dennis Laurel Jump, age 76 quietly passed away.
Born on July 7, 1947, Denny was an Army combat veteran who fought in Vietnam in 1968. It is believed that his body silently battled things that were not left in Vietnam but instead stayed with him throughout the rest of his life due to his exposure to the Agent Orange chemical used during the Vietnam War. Over the past three years, Parkinsonism and Dementia caused his body to deteriorate rapidly and ultimately take him from us. Our hearts are broken but comforted by his unconditional love for us and the amazing role model he was.
Denny was a pillar of kindness, generosity, love, and acceptance. He had an uplifting presence and infectious smile and could (and would) strike up a conversation with anyone (and everyone) he came across. After his time in Vietnam, he was able to go on and live a fulfilled life with a family that loved him. He always put on a show, whether through a witty comment or remark, or entertaining his family. We all share our one-liners from the movies, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and Christmas Vacation. Two absolute favorites of the Jump/Roberge families that are religiously watched year after year.
Denny was best known for his magnetic personality. His heart was a haven of warmth and he was always open to help. He had an innate ability to involve and connect with his family. His sense of humor was infectious and his creativity knew no bounds. A musical soul, Denny's love for playing drums was immense. A self-taught drummer, his passion for music translated into a valuable life lesson he used to impart upon others - that music is life. One video that will forever be cherished is when he was sitting at the kitchen table keeping the beat to one of his favorite songs by his favorite artist, "Pride and Joy" by Steve Ray Vaughan
Among Denny's greatest accomplishments were the strong and loving family he built. He married the love of his life, Barbara Jump, with whom he nurtured a bond of everlasting love. Married just shy of 55 years he was the proud father of Amy (Jump) Roberge and David Jump. More than just a parent, he was a mentor who taught them the importance of kindness and acceptance. The joy he felt watching his grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Ryan Roberge, Aurora, and Cecelia Jump engaged in sports and pursuing their passions was unparalleled. His passion for photography allowed him to capture and preserve those precious moments of love and laughter.
Denny, Dad, Uncle Denny, and his absolute favorite–Grandpa Denny, was always kind, laughing with a big smile, and an even bigger heart. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. Denny's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His connection with his grandchildren through music and photography, his pride and unconditional love for his family epitomize his life.
Denny is survived by his wife, Barbara Jump, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Steve Roberge, son and daughter-in-law, David and Lyndsy Jump, his and adored grandchildren, Justin(Audrey), Tyler, Ryan, Aurora, and Cecelia.
Denny also leaves behind older siblings. Patricia Holmes, Peggy Newell(David), Philip Jump(Cheri) and Donald Jump, 4 sisters-in- law Linda Krinke(Paul), Patty Taylor, Debra Sabourin and Bonnie Rees as well as many nieces and nephews.
The greatest lesson Denny has left behind is to treat others with kindness and acceptance. His love for music, his family, and his endearing personality will always be remembered. He is immensely missed, but his spirit lives on in his family, who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
