Dennis's obituary
Dennis Lane Holdaway, 83, passed away August 16, 2022, due to causes incident of age. At the time of his death he was living at the home of his son Travis, in Star, ID. He had previously lived in Indian Springs, NV for many years.
Dennis was born June, 13, 1939 to Randall & Ida W. Holdaway in Ronan, MT. He had a fun childhood growing up in Vineyard, UT with his siblings Rita, Klin, Blaine & Anabel. He graduated from Orem High School in 1957.
Dennis lived a life full of adventure. He enjoyed skiing, planes, motorcycles, woodworking & golfing. Dennis served in the Special Forces Green Berets. He was afraid of heights so he parachuted many times-His motto was “If you’re afraid of something, then DO IT!”
Dennis worked many jobs during his life, one being a bodyguard for Elvis Presley. His final job, for many years, was at the Nevada Testing site where he was a top-notch sharp shooter-winning over 100 1st & 2nd place awards.
He married Sherry Skelly from Kamas, UT and they were blessed with 2 children, Travis and Camille. His daughter, Camille, died in a tragic car accident at the age of 18. Dennis and his wife later divorced but remained good friends. His biggest desire was to be reunited with his beloved daughter, Camille once again. Later in life Dennis became very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the bishopric for many years in their small branch in Indian Springs, NV.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rita, brother Klin & wife Linda, and his daughter Camille. He is survived by his brother Blaine, sister Anabel (Royce) Masterson, son Travis (Stephanie) Holdaway, two granddaughters Halie and Cassidy-whom he adored, and many nieces and nephews. We will all miss our Dennis until we meet again.
