Dennis's obituary

Dennis Norbert Herwig was born May 2nd 1941 and died peacefully in his sleep on January 31,2026. Dennis grew up a farmer and lived in Dane and Columbia county. He graduated from Deforest High School in 1959, He was a college student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dennis worked on the construction of Interstate 90 and drove Taxi prior to becoming a master carpenter and owning his own business. He married Marjorie Arlene Jeardeau March 6,1963 and had three children Lucinda Lea, Curtis Ray and Andrew James.

Dennis took pride in the jobs he worked on and was willing to show anyone interested what projects they were. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed puzzles, whether it was a picture puzzle, logic puzzle or crossword. He liked to take in a local race or watch Nascar on TV. He enjoyed watching or listening to games on the radio or television, especially volleyball.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mom and dad, his wife Marjorie, his brothers Raymond and David and his granddaughter Renee Arlene.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Lucinda (Scott) Herwig-Wasserburger. Curtis (Pamela) Herwig and Andrew (Judy) Herwig. Eleven grandchildren. Seven great grandchildren. Brothers Ralph and Gunther. Sisters Diane, Debby, and Ruth. Many cousins, nieces, nephews and siblings along with his best friend John Grell.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday May 2, 2026.
