Dennis's obituary

James Dennis "Brim" Hardy Jr ll was born January 17, 1955. A native of Pacolet, SC, Dennis was the last son of the late Margaret Hardy-Gault and the late Samuel James Means and stepson of the late James "Moon" Gault. Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Pacolet High School.

Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army serving four years including one overseas tour. He later joined the Pacolet National Guard, serving many years before retiring. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after twenty years of service as a welder.

Brim had many hobbies including cooking and fishing. One of his daily rituals was getting the morning paper and reading it from front to back. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and hanging out with his Pacolet Race Club buddies, and Bis Whist buddies around the circle.

He was an avid Oakland Raider fan. He was a faithful member of New Mission Church where he loved doing God's work every Sunday. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.

He entered eternal rest on April 22, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Health Center after a brief illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts

He leaves to cherish fond memories; two sons, Donikki L.Hardy of Spartanburg, SC, and Dennis R. Hardy of Knoxville, TN; two step-children, Shai Walker of Atlanta, GA, and David Walker of California; god-son, Charmarius Wright; two sisters, Rosalind Alford and Shelia McDonald of Columbia, SC; brother, Marlon Means of Columbia, SC; step-mother, Annie P. Means; three grandchildren, Asia Byars, Lindsey Simpson, and Jayquan Hardy; six great-grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; four great nieces; one great nephew; one great-great niece, one great-great nephew; long life friend Brenda Bell Hardy of Pacolet, SC and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
