Dennis's obituary
Dennis Ekstrand II, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born on February 4, 1966, and sadly left us on November 4, 2023. A man known for his genuine and humorous personality, his loving spirit will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
Remembered lovingly by his wife, Shelley Ekstrand, his children, Errick Ekstrand, Austin Ekstrand, and Monique Ekstrand - Rosenberry. His parents Barbara and Dennis, sisters Tami and Terri, brothers Darin, Donald and Devin.Dennis was a pillar of strength and love for his family. His grandchildren, numbering seven, were his pride and joy.
Dennis had a special relationship with life, cherishing each moment, whether it was hunting in Eastern Oregon, spending time with his close-knit motorcycle club, or most importantly, making the most of every single moment with his family. Time with his wife was cherished above all, and they made a home wherever they were together.
His favorite local hangouts included the cozy Mac's Place, Centennial Steak House, and the friendly Hacienda Amigo Mio. He had a particular love and appreciation for a fine whiskey and coke. His musical tastes ranged from the rock sounds of Kiss, AC/DC, BB king and Hendrix to the country tunes of George Strait and we can’t forget his all time love for Fleetwood Mac.
A devoted Steelers fan, Dennis also enjoyed engaging in a competitive game of Monopoly. His love for Western movies was known to all, reflecting his admiration for the spirit of independence and toughness, values he embodied and taught to others. His preferred color palette reflected the simple beauty of life, consisting of basic yet beautiful hues of purple, blue, and white.
Dennis was a Journeyman Millwright with numerous certifications in his craft. In the last few years of his career he went back to school to obtain his final certification in hydraulics. Dennis was married to the love of his life for 35 incredible years. He was also a loving grandfather who adored spending time with his grandchildren, sharing stories, teaching lessons, and laughing together.
A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held on January 6th, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Irving Grange #377. Let's come together to remember and celebrate a man who lived his life with authenticity, love, and an unforgettable sense of humor
